Look for some major announcements Thursday in a special email from the AMEN Board!
AMEN Hurricane Relief Planning Virtual Meeting
On Sunday, September 1st at 5:00 PM EST (4:00 PM CST), there will be a ZOOM virtual meeting for all men interested in helping our Diocese to prepare and provide relief for natural disasters and other emergencies that might strike our parishes and communities. His Grace Bishop Nicholas has blessed this effort and will be in the virtual meeting also.
The ongoing uncertainty of Hurricane Dorian and its potential aftermath has prompted us to organize this virtual meeting quickly and discuss ways our AMEN groups might be able to help out now and in the future. We apologize for the short notice for this but felt we needed to discuss ASAP. ANY MEN in our diocese who are interested in helping are welcome to attend this meeting!
Please join ZOOM if you haven’t already. You can join the video conference using a computer or Smart Phone, or you can call into the conference call line without the video conferencing capability. Here’s the information that you need for the meeting:

Please continue to pray for those in the path of the storm and the first responders who will be in danger. Lord have Mercy! Our Brother in Christ Stephen Zelesnik from St. Basil Church in Metairie, LA shared the link below in GroupMe this week that has some great prayers that we all can pray:
Our newest AMEN Board Member, Burt Noyes, sits down with us to share the story of his journey to Orthodoxy. Burt also shares what his responsibilities and planned priorities as AMEN Secretary are, and what the AMEN group at his church is like. Finally, he talks about the book “Truly Human: Rediscovering Your Humanity in a Broken World” and why he highly recommends this book to everyone. Take this opportunity to get to know Burt better, it is a fantastic talk!
Fall Retreat Update
We had an overwhelming response to the registration for the 2nd Annual DOMSE Fall Retreat. A total of 211 people had registered by the deadline yesterday! We are looking forward to seeing many of you there. Please keep everyone who is traveling to Franklin, TN in your prayers this week.
AMEN T-Shirt Pre-Order Has Ended
THANK YOU to those of you who pre-ordered our inaugural AMEN T-Shirt! The early pre-order period for these T-Shirts has ended. We expect delivery from our supplier in the next week or so and will begin shipping out pre-ordered t-shirts soon after that. If you weren’t able to pre-order a t-shirt in time, don’t worry. We anticipate we will be selling these online in the near future so you will be able to purchase one of your own very soon!
“Ask Father Hans” VLOG
As a reminder, we are planning to launch a new “Ask Father Hans” VLOG (video blog) series on our YouTube Channel in the next few weeks. The purpose of this new series will be to give the men of our Diocese an opportunity to have any of their questions answered by our AMEN Spiritual Father, Fr. Hans Jacobse.
If you have a question to ask Fr. Hans, send your question to amendomse@gmail.com and put “Ask Fr. Hans” in the subject line of your e-mail.
AMEN Virtual Bible Study
On September 19th, we will begin our Monthly AMEN Virtual Bible Study hosted by Fr. Stephen De Young from Archangel Gabriel Church in Lafayette, LA! The focus of Fr. Stephen’s first Bible study will be on the story of the life of King David. These will be held via Zoom Meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month!
To participate during the live Bible study, you will need to have a ZOOM account if you haven’t registered for one yet. Register here for ZOOM or install the app through the App Store or Google Play. We encourage each parish to organize in-person fellowship meetings for these Bible studies where the entire group can log into the Zoom meeting together from one location.
You can also log into the zoom meeting individually from wherever you are, even using your Smart Phone while traveling, etc. There is even a way to call into the meeting like a regular conference call, however, using a computer or Smart Phone is recommended so that you will be able to see Fr. Stephen and any visual aids he decides to use! The virtual Bible studies will later be available for viewing online for those who can’t attend the live study.
